These days, it seems like there's a craze for butter tteok (butter rice cake) instead of Dujjonku (house-made chewy dessert). Butter tteok is sold in various forms at independent cafes, so it seems a bit easier to find than Dujjonku. 🤔
But! Each cafe makes them differently, and I heard that places that don't make them well can taste greasy (oily?), so...
I looked around and heard that there's a popular butter tteok spot in Moran, so I headed there right away.
🥯 Jageun Raon butter tteok and menu
Actually, I visited Jageun Raon twice.
Visited around 11:00 AM on a Saturday for White Day - takeout
Visited around 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 21 - dine-in
Both times we were able to get butter tteok..! ⭐ It seems they prepare a sufficient amount of butter tteok for same-day sales, so unless you go very late in the afternoon, you should be able to get some.
Butter tteok
You can order butter tteok in the following quantities.
1 piece: 1,800 KRW
4 pieces: 6,500 KRW
6 pieces: 8,500 KRW
The butter tteok is the familiar rectangular-shaped butter tteok you generally know!
The outside was crispy and the inside was chewy. You can almost feel the chewiness just by looking at the photos, right? 😋

The butter tteok shape was changed once.
The first time I visited, they had a cute duck-shaped version!

When they changed from the duck shape to the rectangle, the taste didn't change much. I felt like the duck shape had a relatively larger proportion of crispy parts.
The butter tteok size itself got a little bigger, and I remember the price increased slightly.

That day we had an iced cafe latte, an iced Americano, and four pieces of butter tteok.
Some people dipped theirs in condensed milk, but the butter tteok was already so tasty on its own that, being mindful of calories, I stuck to eating just the butter tteok.. 😅

And we even packed two boxes of six pieces each to take home!! Luckily they had stock so we were able to stock up.
After we ordered, I even saw someone take home boxes of 30 pieces. 😲
On weekends (Saturday) it seemed like stock started to run low around 4–5 PM. When we left, I remember there being only about two boxes of six-piece packs left!
Full menu
The full menu is as follows! I took a photo of the menu board, but the glare made it hard to read, so pulling the image from Naver Maps looked clearer. 😅

(The menu board above was taken from the Naver Maps menu tab.)
Besides butter tteok, they also had a variety of other desserts!
[Dessert menu types]
Dujjonku (house-made chewy dessert)
Brownie
Yellow cheese, Oreo chewy cookies
The coffee was good too, so next time I'll try other desserts with an Einspänner (espresso topped with whipped cream)!
☕ Jageun Raon cafe atmosphere
Inside the cafe
The interior isn't large and is quite cozy!
They have study-at-a-cafe seating, and it seemed like each seat had one outlet.
There seemed to be a total of three tables. (Two-person and four-person tables)

If you go late on a weekend afternoon (after 4 PM), there are hardly any seats. We barely grabbed the last two-person seat.

Overall, the vibe feels warm and homely. ☺️
Exterior
Here is how the exterior looks!

🅿️ Jageun Raon facilities
Restroom
The restroom is a shared men/women restroom located inside the cafe!

Parking
There is no separate parking. Since the cafe is located right in front of Moran Station Exit 8, I recommend using public transportation to visit!
Smoking area
There is no separate smoking room. It looks like they make use of outdoor space!
I stopped by Jageun Raon near Moran Station while looking for a butter tteok spot! I fell for the crispy outside, chewy inside texture, and again for the savory yet subtly sweet flavor.
If you like butter tteok, it's definitely worth a visit, and if you're near Moran Station looking for something a little different dessert-wise, I recommend dropping by! 😊
